"I May Not See Myself as Others See Me Not"

"I May Not See Myself as Others See Me Not" witnesses Detroit-based Nigerian interdisciplinary artist KESSWA as they perform facets of themself. KESSWA embodies the priestess, the neophyte, the magician, and the time traveler. KESSWA developed these aspects in their childhood through vivid dreams and in their adulthood through ancestral reverence. These aspects tend to fall behind the artist's subconscious, also referred to as the veil. “I May Not See Myself as Others See Me Not” embraces Cameroonian-born Nigerian photographer Samuel Fosso’s usage of auto-fiction, which uses autobiography and fiction to recount one's life.”
